We have chosen PayPal because they don't add any additional costs to accepting the payment like other credit cards do.

No. The actual sale of the painting is purely between the artist and the buyer. The can accept any type of payment you both agree to.

To sign up for an account, choose the items (memberships, featured ads) that you would like to buy and click on your shopping cart. This will bring you through the sale process and then give you the ability to register with PayPal.
