Why are you an artist?
As an Artist, I am trying to define the essence of love, beauty and happyness
Tell us something about your artwork.
I really can not find an explaination about my art work.It is relates mostly to my feelings my inspirations come at different levels.I never planed to work in a specific subject until a new creation start taking shape under my brush strokes.This is one of the unexplicable mysteries in my career as an artist.
Tell me about yourself, where you live and your background/lifestyle.
I live in Florida. Originally I am from Haiti.I inherited my artistic flair from my father who holds a degree in Architecture & Engeneering.He is a mathematician as well who teaches statistic for pre-law students.I have learned different technics from a very young age,I worked alongside my dad Creating blueprints for home buildings.
My background includes Architecture, Autocad & General Drafting.I lead a very peaceful life surrounded by my art.
How did you get your start in the arts?
Since I was five years old I found myself interested in drawings.I could not stay a second without bounding myself to a piece of paper, a crayon or an ink jar.Since then I knew that I was a different child. I created my first oil painting at the age of nine.
What are some highlights of your art career so far?
Some of the highlights in my art career! I am well known in my community and most part of the world. My artwork has been features in many magazines and newspapers. The journal " Presence " in Montreal Canada. The Hempstead newspaper in Long Island NY.
Caribbean Magazine in Brooklyn NY.I received an award at an artistic contest held at the Baldwin Library in Long Island NY.
I participated in the 50th anniversary celebration at the United Nation and was awarded first place for my artwork entitled " Promenade du dimanche au bord du lac. Haiti apres la colonisation ." ( Sunday walk by the lac. Haiti after French colonisation.)
In 1993 my picture with Mario Cuomo the governor of NY & Rev Al Sharpton was featured as part of Caribbean Cultural Event held at Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn ny. I was invited by the Haitian Consulate to participate in an art exhibit to participate at the " Le Panteon National d'Haiti " in the late 90's.
Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
This is one of the questions I admire the most! Why? because ten years from now my destiny has been prescribed in the book of life.My dream is to open an art gallery to feature my prize master pieces.
Whose work do you relate to most?
Even though my work is not relate to any specific artist. I specially admire the style of the following artists. My father's work, Jean Beliotte, Jean Bernard Etienne, Ralph Chapoteau, Essud Funcap, Gaugin, Picasso and Monet.
Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired by my childhood, memories of my birthplace, nature itself and also europeen landscapes & architecture.
What is your vision for your work?
My vision for my art is to gain world wide reputation,also for each person to cherish the special meaning that is conveyed through each particular artwork.
What is your artistic medium of choice?
My artistic choice of medium is acrylic.I work with oil based for thirty years but due to health problems related to inhaling the fumes of the linseed oil. I switch to acrylic based paint.
Why that medium?
Because its odorless and dry faster
Does your medium affect your vision?
no.
What does your art stand for?
A utopia, my artwork stands for a better way of life.
Have you experimented with different mediums or styles of art?
I have experienced with the following medium, Oil, Guache, Water color, Acrylic, Black & Color Ink
How do you think / want other people to respond to your art?
As I mentioned before my artwork reflexes to six different styles that comes naturally.
What do you believe makes your artwork unique or unusual?
Because I am not limitted to a specific style. Some of my artworks can be classified as realistic, impressionistic, contemporary, cubist, surrealist, abstract art. People are always amazedat the variety of styles That I offer at my art exhibit.
Do you tell stories with your work? If so, what types of stories or themes do you tell?
I express my views & perspectives of life through my paintings. My goal is for my artwork to generate happy memories of the past or great emotions.
Is there one word or sentence that defines your artwork?
My artwork is a projection of the beauty that God created in this world, but that is slowly been distroyed by mankind.
What inspires you to create and what keeps you motivated on a creative block day in the studio?
My motivation for creation is an appriciation of life and the beauty of nature and what it has to offer me as an inspiration.
What methods do you use to organize your time?
It is simple. I just discipline myself by given priorities to everything that is related to art.
Do you go through any rituals when you paint?
I do not go to any ritual, my talentis a gift from God, no effert is requiered from me to create.The inspirations flow naturally from my heart to my paint brush.
What is your favorite and least favorite part about the business of art?
My favorite part is when people display a deep appriciation for my work and express to me the feelings that the paintings evoke in them.
How do you keep the business and creative sides separate? Or do you?
I do not create base on the business which would convert my work to a commercial trade. My business is based on my creative inspiration.
How do you define ?success? in the arts?
I define my success through my reputation in the art.
What advice would you give to new artists or those just starting out?
Stay True the art and not be sweyed by public opinion
What other interests do you have (other than creating your artwork)?
My other interests are interior designing & decoration.
How do you think the arts are treated around the world?
Art should be viewed differently.It is the essence of civilisation. Everything in life is based upon art. A true appriciation of art would eliminate conflicts of opinion and understanding, It would enhance its cultural & philosophical value.We would have more incentive to educate people about beauty, respect and love.

Picasso
What is your impression of where art is headed in this century?
Art has the tools to elevate the capacity of the human soul. My concern is people should be much more educated about art. They take too lightly its function, its nature, its values and its role in our society.
